the mikrotour

“by the moon and the stars in the sky: i’ll be there!”

ex-haus, trier w/sometree

it was quite a long trip from hamburg to trier. due to heavy rain and traffic jams we spent almost ten hours on the autobahn, hoping for sun that simply wouldn’t show up. when we finally arrived at ex-haus, sometree had already checked sound and sat in the backstage room. we shook hands with the guys and talked for a while, then carried our equipment on stage and checked sound ourselves. when everything was just fine, we had a little time to explore the venue. the ex-haus is a huge cultural centre with several show rooms, there are different supplies for kids – and even a gym! backstage the nice staff provided us with pasta and salad, a good preparation for a nice gig!

we got on stage at about 9.30 pm and filled half an hour – as there were three more bands to come – with songs like “coma”, “joao” and “in the air”. especially our cover version of “nosebleed” was fun to play. those of you who know sometree will agree it’s a great song! after the gig we hung around at the merchandise stall, selling the new ep “vida da cidade” and talking to people.

in the meantime replico started playing. the young band performed a great set of indie rock. commander keen, third support of the evening, was quite funny: a standalone guy who plays guitar accompanied only by his laptop. Between the songs he reads poems about rucola-salad and the like. we were quite curious about the sometree gig – and the guys convinced us from minute one with songs like “seraph”, “hands and arrows” and the beautiful original “nosebleed”.

when the show was over, we talked to alex, basti, bernd and björn. while some of the guys went into the gym to play football at about 2 am, we preferred going to bed. the next day and a cold but awakening shower later the ex-haus staff made a great breakfast. while some of us relaxed at the venue, others went into the city with the sometrees to take a look at triers ancient roman beauty. before we headed off to frankfurt/main, we buttered some rolls. good for long car rides…

thank you’s: sometree + dennis + jan, everyone at ex-haus, commander keen, replico
